Thanks, Timothy. The config file was indeed there and I was able to use Tony’s workaround to run a Task. This will buy me some time as I get LetSync installed and configured.

Thanks, deverette, but I had already uninstalled and lost my saved Tasks and config file.

    Folks,

I just had a nice long conversation with Yudel. Yes, he is a former employee of synergration and yes it did seem odd when I got an email from him offering his replacement product, LetSync. But he was in a very strange position.

These forums belong to synergration and they can delete any post they wish so let’s be respectful. My company has used OpenSync for over 11 years and we depend on it daily. What they did letting this program just die without any warning is terrible. Synergration sells other products so maybe they just decided this particular product was no longer viable. But they should have treated us as customers with more care. What is done is done. As business people, we just need to solve this problem and move on.

As I said, Yudel was in a strange position. He knew that many businesses depend on OpenSync and from his insider perspective he saw that synergration was not interested in supporting OpenSync and was not saying anything to their customers. So he developed a replacement solution to solve the problem.

I just bought it so I cannot say whether or not it works well but he picks up the phone and seems dedicated to his product and his professional reputation. You can each make up your own mind. I just need to solve this problem and get back to my business.

I tend to agree with Timothy. Nonetheless, I am running a business and need to keep things running smoothly. I will grudgingly move to the subscription model but LetSync has GOT TO RENEW THE SSL CERT on OpenSync. I need time to migrate my application over to the new LetSync database schema.

I don’t have a problem moving to a new app like LetSync BUT…

LetSync uses a new database with different table and field names!!! I have literally hundreds of forms, reports, and queries built using the OpenSync database schema. It would take me weeks to change everything.

    Same error! Is OpenSync dead?

    5 year old post…yikes!

Yes, RefreshAll is the name of my OpenSync task. The second line simply forces QuickBooks to shut down if it is still running.

I have a Task in the Windows Task Scheduler that calls the two line script every 15 minutes. This Task is set to “If the task is already running, then the following rule applies: Stop the existing instance.” So yes, it would terminate the sync if it was still running. I honestly don’t know if this is problematic for OpenSync but it has been working reliably for us for many years.

We will work on that for the next version. Sorry for the trouble on this table.

It’s been over a year. When can I expect a fix?

    Thanks.

Most likely what? A patch to version 3 OR version 4?

In the next update of version 3 or are you saying version 4?

    Thanks.

    Hello, Yudel.

It’s been almost six months. Any update?

    Thanks.

    @bth

While we wait for them to fix this in their next release, you can just do what I did and change the data type of the quantity field yourself.

Wow, Robert, you’re right. I have almost 2 MILLION records in my shiptoaddressdetail table with thousands of duplicate entries for the same customer.

I have been posting for some time about a similar problem I am having with the additionalnotesdetail table. There are a number of tables that have no primary keys so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are even more tables with duplicate records.

I have to use it because my users have notes in the QuickBooks additionalnotesdetail table that they want me to access.
